Denim Jean Cozy

Patti shares a great idea at Fiskars for upcycling a pair of outgrown children’s jeans into a cool cozy with pockets. Old jeans are plentiful at yard sales and thrift stores, so you shouldn’t have a trouble landing a pair for pretty cheap if you don’t already have some.

Patti suggested this cozy as a gift for Father’s Day. Worn denim is definitely on the more manly side as far as fabric goes. However, I am pretty sure anyone would enjoy a unique cozy with their favorite beverage and treats tucked inside.

    Outdoor Drink Holder

Positively Splendid contributor Megan from The Home I Have Made has just what you need to stay hydrated during this crazy heat wave – a DIY drink holder! Follow Megan’s tutorial, and your icy cold beverage will always be close at hand. It all starts with a tin can…

Megan prettied up her can with some blue medallion fabric and Mod Podge and then attached the hardware to transform it to a drink holder. This is so cute! I think the hardest part of this project will be eating soup when it’s 100 degrees outside {giggle}.

    Yellow Quatrefoil Table

Stacey from Rendition Road found this lovely little sofa table on the curb piled up with many other items for her local spring clean up. She knew the minute she found it that it had a bright and cheery future ahead.

After the repair work, sanding, and priming were complete, Stacey broke out the sunshine yellow paint to brighten this baby up! It didn’t stop there… a quatrefoil design was also in order followed by a light distressing. Stacey loves the finished product and will definitely have a hard time saying goodbye when the table sells from her shop!

    Woven T-Shirt Pillow

Here’s another great project that puts those old t-shirts to use – t-shirt weaving! This is an activity both you and your kids can enjoy this summer. What kid wouldn’t enjoy the chance to take a pair of scissors to clothes?

Over at Alphamom, Ellen of The Long Thread will walk you through the simple steps to making your own woven creation. It is much simpler than you think and doesn’t even require the purchase of a loom! Ellen made a little eye pillow from her weaving but shares numerous other project ideas, such as a doll house rug, wall hanging, or cell phone pouch.

    Pallet Hanging Herb Garden

The pallet projects just keep a comin’! Tammy from One More Time turned this large pallet into a lovely hanging herb garden for her yard.

What a great way to repurpose a pallet, and this one was perfect for the job! I love all Tammy’s extras that take the pallet from a plain old piece of wood to a quaint little garden space.

    T-Shirt Diapers

Not a fan of disposable diapers? Well, there’s no reason to purchase new cloth diapers if you’ve got some old t-shirts hanging around (or a thrift store nearby). Just follow Natural Violet’s tutorial for turning t-shirts into pocket diapers.

In addition to being extra friendly for the environment, these diapers are too darn cute! The ruffles… the oversized heart… you won’t want to cover them up!

    Rustic Wood Cooler

Brooke from Killer b. Designs loved the idea of adding a rustic cooler to her patio but was
turned off by the high prices. So Brooke and her hubby joined forces to transform this old cooler.

They hid away the ugly green plastic with a frame built by 2x2s and some reclaimed fence posts found by the curb. Next up was attaching a spigot to the cooler for drainage, an antler shed for the handle, and a bottle opener for decoration. Brooke says, “It was so easy and only $30 in supplies (since we had the cooler and fence wood on hand). It’s a great addition to our back porch…”

    Hanging Flower Trough

Karah from The Space Between decided it was time to take down her spring wreath and dress up her door with some new décor. She got the idea to turn a slat from an old pallet into a hanging flower trough.

It didn’t take long for Karah’s vision to become a reality. Karah says, “This little project took all of 40 minutes and now I have a totally free (LOVE it!) and very versatile little rustic trough for our front door. I am already imagining the possibilities…”
