Decorating Out of Doors with Upcycled Art

At her blog, Love Grows Wild, Liz has been sharing her patio makeover. One of the things she did to make the space feel more like a room was to hang some artwork on an exterior wall. Since the art would be outdoors, Liz decided to upcycle some old decor to create something she wouldn’t feel bad about exposing to the elements.

Liz started out with three matching (but dated) prints that she’d been saving for a project like this. “I wanted to change the design inside the frames, but I also wanted to be able to change it seasonally if the need arises. So instead of just painting over the design, I decided to cover it in fabric.” When she couldn’t find a subtle design that she like, Liz made her own using leftover muslin and craft paint. The new art has a subtle, two-tone effect that looks great with the rest of her patio decor.
