Upcycled Dinosaur Applique Outfit

Polly from Helping Little Hands is queen of recycling hand-me-down clothes.  She has acquired jeans with ripped out knees, shirts with stains from her chemist husband and some thrifted t-shirts.  All of which most people would just toss.  But Polly has a vision when it comes to clothing her three kids.

Cereal Box Postcards

On my other site, Infarrantly Creative I got a little creative with cereal boxes.  I am a big fan of recycling anything and everything I can.  Most people toss cereal boxes when the cardboard is primo for art projects, drawing surfaces and POSTCARDS.

So I cut some down and rounded the corners and then added lines for the address on the back.  They make the perfect sized note for my preschoolers to send Grandma a note.

Carved Detail Dresser Makeover

It never ceases to amaze me at the awesome stuff people leave on the curb.  This dresser would have made Goodwill some serious cash.  It has great lines and detail on it.  But since it wasn’t at Goodwill and on the curb Susan from Maple & Magnolia scooped it up, much to the disappointment of her sons who are hiding in the backseat in fear that their friends would see their trash picking mama.

She chose to do the two-tone look with a stained top and a painted base. This is my absolutely favorite combination as of late.

Vintage Light Fixture Bowl

Myra from My Blessed Life was being a sweetheart and helping a friend clean her house because they are in the midst of a house renovation.  Myra had inquired about an old light fixture that she saw lying around.  Her friend was about to toss it in the trash when Myra scooped it up.

I love the circular shape and all the grooved glass designs.  Myra flipped it upside down and used it as a chip bowl, fruit bowl and base for some fun décor on a side table in her home.  Brilliance, I tell ya!vintage_light_fixture5-550x366

Beach Inspired Mantel

Jen from Tatertots & Jello found some old shutters laying curbside.  Since shutters are a hot decorating item she knew she could find a place in her home to make them look amazing.  So she scooped them up ready to give them a beachy makeover.

Adding a little paint and a whole lot of blue and cream accessories she created this beautiful beachy vignette in her home with the reclaimed shutters as her backdrop.

Vintage Television to Music Book Storage

April from Home Hinges lugged a ginormous vintage television cabinet into the back of her car.  She recognized its great shape and she had a vision to turn it into something fabulous.  So in the middle of the rain storm she persisted to grab this beauty and heave-ho it into her vehicle.

With a little paint and wood to create some dividers she now has some vertical storage to hold her music books in.

Stripped and Stained Desk

One of the benefits of being a newlywed and starting off life as a married couple is that many people are super anxious to furnish your new home with hand-me-down furniture.  That is what happened to Stacy from Not JUST a Housewife.

But Stacy is no stranger to hard work.  She started sanding, stripping, and staining and turned this old desk into a beautiful show piece for her new home.

Paintable Wallpaper Desk Makeover

I just love it that I am known as the girl who takes everyone’s trash and makes it beautiful.  Such is the case with my friend Brooke from All Things Thrifty as well.  Her friend gave her an old desk knowing Brooke could work her magic on it and make it amazing.

With a little TLC, some paint and a secret supply to make those drawer fronts pop Brooke transformed a ho-hum desk into something beautimous!
