Upcycled Tshirt Scarf for Kids

Last week I shared some tshirt refashions and upcycles over at Infarrantly Creative.  I’ve got plenty of material for these, since between the two of us, my husband and I have a stack of almost 75 old tees!  Here’s one I made with my daughter, Kayla.

Kayla and I turned an old white tshirt into a scarf that was just her size.  We cut a long rectangle of solid-colored fabric from the shirt.  We jazzed it up a bit by stamping designs on it with fabric paint.  We chose x’s, o’s, and hearts for Valentine’s Day, but you could really do anything with stamps of your choice.  Kayla loves her new scarf, and we had a lot of fun making it together.

Upcycled T-Shirt scarf

At the OhOh Blog, Ama says that she saw a girl on the street wearing a braided scarf and decided she wanted one, too!  She went home and found a few old t-shirts and turned them into a scarf of her own.

One thing I like about this project is the color choices.  Ama used three variations of gray t-shirts.  The effect once they are braided together is stunning!  This braided scarf is a great look for fall.
