File Cabinet Makeover

At Domestic Imperfection, Ashley has been working hard to make her life more organized.  One of her steps toward that goal is corralling paper clutter.  A trip to the thrift store helped with that step; that’s where Ashley got this little file cabinet.

There’s one problem with this scene:  the file cabinet was ugly.  Who wants to get organized with ugly stuff?  Not Ashley!  She started off the makeover with coats of white paint.  Next, she did something fun and unexpected by decoupaging pretty yellow rectangles onto the file drawers in a herringbone pattern.  She replaced the old knobs with pretty glass handles, and the makeover was complete.   This has to be the loveliest file cabinet I’ve ever seen.

Blue File Cabinet

Heather from Dollar Store Crafts knows the secret to snagging free stuff from Craigslist and scurried on over to claim this old file cabinet. Beige and boring it was but completely functional. It was such an eyesore that it sat in Heather’s garage for years awaiting a makeover.

Enter a can of bold blue spray paint and a white paint pen, and the cabinet was transformed into one of the most stylin’ pieces in Heather’s home. I love the cool blueprint look that inspired Heather. Those little white lines add lots of interest to the cabinet that now serves as Heather’s new nightstand.
