Luxury Cat Bed from Scrap Materials

Over at Oh So Shabby, Lynda decided that dogs can’t have all the nice things in life.  “I am an incurable cat person through and through,” she admits, “so I thought it was time the Kitties got pampered!”

Lynda used scraps, materials, and furniture that she had on hand to create the perfect pampering spot for her own kitty.  An old ottoman became the base for the bed.  After painting it, Lynda flipped it upside down so that the legs of the ottoman would create “posters” for this bed.  She made a tufted headboard from a small scrap of plywood and some leftover fabric, and made a mattress and pillows, too.  Lynda is happy to report that the cat is thrilled with it’s new bed….and the dog is not!  What an adorable project.

Doll Bed Repurposed

Dede of Designed Decor was wandering through the aisles of her local Salvation Army when she spotted a wooden doll bed.  Instead of thinking what a great bed it would make for dolls, Dede–who has a puggle–thought what a cute bed it would make for pets!

At home, she sanded it down and experimented with a new painting technique.  (Small projects like this are perfect for such experiments.)  Dede made a pretty little cushion for the mattress, and had herself a bed any small pet would be more than happy to own.
