When Brittany and her husband got new bedding for Christmas, they were inspired to start a master bedroom makeover, which they tell about at Naturally Nesters. One of the focal points of their bedroom’s new look involved the transformation of their existing mission-style headboard.
The first step was giving the old headboard a coat of glossy black paint. Then, Brittany had her husband cut an insert that would fit against the wood railings on the bed, effectively covering them up. She picked a pretty black and white fabric to upholster the insert. The old headboard is now completely updated with tufted upholstery and a brand new color. Isn’t it lovely?

Heidi blogs at My Beautiful Mess. She tells us that this old headboard was one she found for just a few dollars at a local thrift shop. Despite it’s condition, Heidi knew immediately how she could use it in her home.
Heidi gave the headboard a unique painting treatment that made it look like a vintage sign. Then she used vinyl to add something important and meaningful to her and her family: their family purpose statement. Now Heidi’s family has a beautiful reminder of their purpose that they can display with pride. This is a terrific idea for all of us as we head into a New Year with new goals.

Sausha from Sweet Pickins had this pair of headboards in her shop awaiting their grand makeover for awhile before finally pulling them out. Instead of just repainting them to be used as headboards again, Sausha knew it would be more fun to repurpose them into something new.
Sasha turned both headboards into a charming rack with hooks; however, each one got its own special finish. Sausha says, “How cute would these be in a bathroom for towels, a girls room for her dress-up clothes, a kitchen for aprons or even out in the yard to hang flowers or garden tools! Tons of ideas come to mind!”
