Trash to Treasure projects
Katie of Upcycled Treasures has been eyeing projects that make use of vintage yardsticks for a while, waiting for a chance to make one of her own. When she found a stash of old yardsticks on a recent shopping trip, she decided to combine them with her collection of mason jars to make something unique.
Nicolette blogs at Decorate Decorate. ”I spotted this sweet old school desk in the driveway of a house with a sold sign outside,” she says. ”I knocked on the door and a very sweet woman told me it had been in the garage for years and her children were all grown up now. It was in a bit of a state and I don’t think she could understand why I wanted it!”
Sarah of This Sarah Loves claims her husband has a new hobby: checking the free section on Craigslist. And that’s a good thing, especially when he comes home with stuff as nice as this colonial-style bench.
At Creative Dominican, Becca has been working on a master bedroom makeover. Not wanting to spend a ton of money for the kind of lamps she wanted, Becca was thrilled to find these substantial brass lamps at her local Goodwill.
“I wanted a picnic table for the kids so badly, but I did not want to pay for it,” confesses Beth of Pickles In My Tea and In My Soup. ”Luckily, the stars all aligned and I found one for free on Freecycle.”
Margaret blogs over at Moving Forward. Recently, a friend gave her a glass-topped coffee table that had been picked up from the side of the road.
Over at Rendition Road, Stacey tells us, “I found this solid, hand built chest tossed curbside & took her home. I could tell it was hand built by someone who knew what they were doing. She was in such bad shape though, cleanliness wise, that she needed some intensive care once I got her home.”
Elizabeth of Southern Color found this table in the dumpster at her apartments. It had some damage to the top of it but overall it was in good condition.
