Lovely Door Decor from Christmas Tree Scraps

This year, when it came to festive door decor, Rachel says that, “I wanted simple. I wanted a little rustic. But most of all, I wanted free!”  She came up with something lovely using the branches her sister trimmed off of her live Christmas tree, and shared the project at Architecture of a Mom.

To turn these branches into a pretty swag, Rachel took a few branches and trimmed them down so it made a manageable bunch, then wrapped twine around them to keep them together.  She suggests covering the twine with something more decorative, like fabric, ribbon, or a bouquet wrap.  For a finishing touch, Rachel suspended a Christmas tree ornament on her evergreen swag.  It looks terrific on her front door–simple, elegant, and very festive.

DIY Holly Wreath

Tracie of Cleverly Inspired shows us how she crafted a gorgeous Christmas wreath using things she already had on hand:  an old, empty picture frame and some pretty seasonal clippings from her yard.

The outcome is nothing short of fabulous!  This seasonal decor was practically free for Tracie to make.  Pretty impressive when similar wreaths retail for as much as $50!  It’s a great way to recycle a picture frame and showcase winter greens.

Tracie provides a fantastic tutorial at Cleverly Inspired, so that you can make a wreath of your own.
