This nifty headboard project was created by Jen from Scissors and Spatulas for Somewhat Simple. It’s got a cool backstory. The forgotten, neglected headboard once was her husband’s childhood bed. “It was going to be tossed to the curb until I claimed it for myself because I had a vision,” Jen tells us. “Being the little scavenger that I am, I hauled it home and rescued it!”
Jen’s vision for this little headboard was that it could become a bench. She sanded down the old finish and primed it with paint. Jen handed the headboard pieces over to her husband to be cut apart and rearranged with a few additional pieces of wood into a bench. She gave the new bench two coats of creamy white paint and then–after the paint dried, of course–sanded the bench for a distressed look. No this little piece of family history sits in Jen’s entryway. Lovely!
