Getting an Aged Finish with Vinegar

This furniture freebie came to Sara with a black and white finish and a wobbly leg.  Otherwise it was in good condition, so she decided to have some fun with the makeover, and shared the results at Thrifty Treasures.

To give this desk a new look, Sara sanded down the top of the desk and the drawer fronts.  Next,  she poured vinegar in a small container, added steel wool, and let it sit overnight.  The steel wool and vinegar reacted to make a stain that Sara used to coat all the sanded parts of the desk.  The homemade stain created a faux aged finish, which Sara sealed with clear wax.  Awesome!
