Mushroom Ottoman That’s Cute as Can Be

Debi presented this crazy cute piece of furniture on her blog, Debi’s Design Diary.  It’s a mushroom ottoman, made from a stump pulled from her wood pile!

When Debi came up with the design for this stump, one of the important elements of it was that the stump should be hollowed out so that it could provide hidden storage.  Easier said than done!  Hollowing out the stump was tricky!  A hinged lid for the hidden storage got the look of a mushroom (or is it a toadstool?) with the help of some foam and a thrifted polka dot sweater.  I love that she added caster wheels to the bottom, so that the whole thing rolls.  Delightful!

Check out Debi’s video tutorial for this stump furniture at Debi’s Design Diary.

  1. What a great idea. I watched the video, an impressive amount of work involved in making the ottoman. I might have to come up with a short cut cheater version. :)
