Rustic Hearts from Salvage

Valentine’s Day is less than a week away.  Are you ready?  If pink and ruffles aren’t the way you like to decorate for the day of love, then Donna from Funky Junk Interiors has a great project for you!  And the best part is, these decorations can be make out of items you already have on hand.

Donna made these hearts starting with a simple base of cardboard.  Easy to find, right?  To make the hearts look extra rustic, she freehand drew them before cutting them out, so they wouldn’t have a perfectly symmetrical shape.  Next, she recommends looking for any fun textures that you might enjoy looking at tohot glue onto the cardboard hearts.  “Moss, bark, mop string, buttons, dried hydrangeas, burlap, anything goes,” Donna says.  “As long as you can glue it onto something small, it’ll work.”  The hearts are just neutral enough, Donna points out, that they can be tucked just about anywhere for year round decor.
