Dumpster Bench Gets a New Look With Chevron

“My husband’s friend did did not want to admit he pulled this bench for his condo’s dumpster,” laughs Joan at Nicer Than New.  He brought it to Joan for a makeover, but it took some prodding to get him to admit where he’d found it.

Lucky for the friend, he’d brought the bench to the right place.  Joan could see it had a lot of potential.  After removing the upholstered seat and back, she washed it down with TSP, rubbed the surface with Klean-Strip de-glosser, and coated it with Zinsser primer.   Joan chose paint she already had on hand, Behr’s Black Suede, for this project.  For the new upholstery, she explains, “I scored a fabulous chevron on the reduced table in manly colours Wayne would like.”  And like it Wayne did–he was astonished with the outcome of his very first dumpster diving expedition.
