This Stand Takes the Cake!

At her blog, Denise…On a Whim, Denise shares a nifty way to repurpose vintage cake pans and servingware, like the ones pictured below.

For this project, Denise made use of her collection of wooden furniture legs and other scrap wood.  She created a base using a couple of small, square pieces of wood.  The first layer of her cake stand is made from a pretty silver serving tray.  ” The curves on it are lovely,” Denise notes.  A wooden leg cut into three pieces makes the pillar in the center of the stand, which raises up the second tier.  The second tier is made from a vintage cake pan.  The pieces combined together create a one-of-a-kind tiered display stand, perfect for Denise’s craft room.
