Plain Lampshade Goes Home on the Range

At Rain on a Tin Roof, Jenna’s inspiration for this lamp makeover came from someone special:  her Pap.  A cattle rancher, his life was defined by the animals he cared for so diligently.  When Jenna spotted a cowhide lampshade, she knew immediately that she wanted one of her own.  “Not only would it fit perfectly with my decor, but it would be a nod to my Pap,” she tells us.

For this project, Jenna made use of a lamp base and a basic shade that she already had in her home.  She ripped of the covering from the lampshade she already had, to prepare it for the new cowhide covering.  Jenna didn’t actually have a cowhide to use, so she purchased Tan Cow Velboa Faux Fur Fabric, instead, which was a great substitute.  She made a rough cut of the faux fur before applying it to the shade with hot glue.  Jenna used brown ribbon to trim the edges of her new lampshade.  Doesn’t it look awesome?
