Need a place to contain the jewelry that you drop on your nightstand. (C’mon, we all do it!) Check out the cute jewelry tray that Amy made at Homey Oh My! Amy started with a plain white salad plate–something that if you don’t already have on hand, you can easily find at the dollar store or thrift shop.
The plate was just the right shape and size, but Amy wanted to dress it up a bit. She carefully taped off stripes using painter’s tape. Next, she filled in the white spaces between the taped stripes using a gold leaf pen. Amy offers this tip, saying, “After removing the tape, I took a Q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol and cleaned up any imperfect edges.” The plate turned out even better than Amy anticipated. Don’t you love the way the stripes change direction? So classy.
