At The Happy Housie, Krista had saved the cupboard doors from a recent bathroom update. When she began getting excited about the holidays earlier this year, she decided it was time to turn one of those doors into a countdown to Christmas sign.
Krista started this project by peeling off the melamine from the MDF underneath. She lightly sanded the wood, and then painted with white. She used round objects, like buttons, to lightly trace polka dots onto the “frame” part of the cabinet door, and filled in those dots with red and green craft paint. Next, she painted a larger circle onto the inner section of the door using chalkboard paint, and hand painted the words “days ’til Christmas” next to that. Now, Krista’s boys can help her keep track of the remaining days by chalking the countdown onto the mini chalkboard. So cute!
