A Cheerful Christmas Sign from Upcycled Fence Boards

Over at Marty’s Musings, Marty has shared quite a few awesome projects this year that were made from the pile of discarded fence boards she has in her backyard.  Here’s another one, just in time for Christmas!

For this project, Marty had her husband cut the boards and fix them into 12×12 inch squares.  They gave the squares a whitewash treatment using 3 parts water to 1 part paint.  Next, Marty created stencils using her craft cutting machine.  Then, her husband sponged in red paint inside the stencil, creating the letters that spell “Joy”.  It’s a cheerful sign with a lovely, rustic patina.
