The little shelf sitting next to Sherry’s back door just wasn’t any fun to look at, she tells us over at Upcycle Addict. After living with it for a while, she decided it was time to build something that would function as both storage and a place to sit down in the mudroom. Instead of purchasing new materials, Sherry decided to use what she had on hand, and this old crib was a good starting point.
The crib headboard became the back of Sherry’s new mudroom bench. She used pieces of wood already sitting in her garage to build a storage bench in front of the headboard. An old bedpost was cut into four pieced to form feet for the bench, and leftover trim from another project added dimension to the back of the bench. Sherry painted the bench with homemade chalk paint and stained it. The finishing touches were the addition of some thrifted hooks and vintage rulers that Sherry had been collecting. Wow! It’s hard to believe that Sherry only spent $3 to make this beautiful mudroom bench.
