Hand-me-Down Herringbone Dresser

Beja blogs at Howdy Honey.  Her latest project is refinishing a dresser that’s been in the family for quite some time.  In fact, it had already been handed down twice before it came to her house.

The last pers0n to give this hand-me-down a makeover was Beja’s mom, who sponge painted it back in the 90’s.  That sponge painting technique meant that Beja had a lot of work to do to strip off the old paint.  Once she got down to raw wood, the next step was adding herringbone accents in an aqua blue shade of chalk paint.  New hardware was the finishing touch for this dresser that is going to live in Beja’s son’s bedroom.  Do you think he’d be willing to hand it down to me?  I love this.

  1. I love this! It is a makeover, but it still retains the old style and character of the piece. The wood with the chevron is beautiful! Modern memory!
