At Marisa Howard Design, Marisa shares the reason cottage style is so important to her, saying, “I spent a great deal of my childhood at my grandparents cottage up in Georgian Bay. My husband grew up cottaging as well so it was natural that we designed our bedroom to remind us of cottage living.” So it was only natural that the two of them could repurpose an old door into a cottage style headboard.
They started with an old but solid oak three paneled door. They turned the door on its side and added some chunky molding to what would become the top of the headboard. Then, Marisa gave it a coat of fresh, white paint–cottage style. “By adding a casual white duvet cover, white dressers, glass lamps and pale blue artwork, it gave this room a light and airy feeling,” Marisa points out. Beautiful!
