70’s Dresser Becomes Media Console

Jaye from Just Tryin’ to Make Cents of It All tells us, “We needed a TV Console for our new TV and I just knew I could find something at my favorite thrift store.”  She found a heavy-duty dresser (circa 1970)that probably came as a matching set with a groovy waterbed.

Luckily, Jaye was able to see past the ugly stains and funky smell and re-imagine this sturdy piece as a media center.  Along with sanding, she made some changes like switching out the scrolled bottom for solid trim and removing the little wing walls on the sides.  Then, Jaye stained the top with dark walnut and painted the bottom a pretty blue.  Now the cool details of this piece–like those apothecary jars!–really shine.  It’s a perfect spot to park the TV and store all kinds of media gadgets.
