Antique Pew Chair Restored

Gail’s friend had an antique chair that was taking up too much storage space in her garage and passed it on to Gail, hoping she could find a place for it somewhere else.  Gail, of My {Re}purposed Life, had a feeling that if the chair got a face lift it would be welcomed home with open arms.  She decided to surprise her friend with a makeover!

The old chair was sturdy, and had interesting lines.  See that little shelf on the back?  It’s a place to store a hymn or prayer book, since this chair was built to be used in a church.  Gail stripped the old finish and after lots and lots of sanding, she applied an ebony stain.

The new finish was just what this old chair needed.  It has gorgeous lines, and I’m sure Gail’s friend is excited to give it a new life inside her home.  Read more about the transformation at My {Re}purposed Life.
