This project is pretty hilarious if you’ve got a hunter in your life. Over at Instructables, you can see how to make a wreath from shotgun shells and a lighter designed to look like a shotgun. While the tutorial uses live shells, I would imagine empty casings would work as well.
This wreath was designed as a festive Christmas wreath with red and green shells; however, I could see it used as year-round décor for a man cave. It would definitely spark some conversation with guests.
Find the tutorial at Instructables.
This is a really funny thing to show. My son was allowed to go “target” shooting with some older Boy Scouts a few months back. He had so much fun that he saved an entire box full of gun casings. This is the perfect thing to make for him. I am going to show this to him and see if he wants to make this with his “prizes”.
I just made one today for my 24 year old duck hunting son for Christmas! I wrapped my wire wreath in burlap first and used a glue gun to attach the shells instead of wire. I left off the gun but will be adding a couple of duck hunting ornaments and a big burlap bow! So much fun. Thank you for the idea!!!
Fun!
